 blankMeditation: Course Overview

blank

The best way forward for anyone on the spiritual way is meditation. This is what makes any individual steady, peaceful and capable, because he finds his way to the Self which is limitless and holds all the treasury the world is aware of. Through the practice of meditation anyone can reach the required destination of full realisation.
 Śrī Śāntānanda Sarasvatī
This form of meditation does not include thinking about anything. You come away out of all the thoughts that are going on … You come to a very still and quiet place; and in that place you feel something that you always longed for and never had.

A Method for cultivating inner stillness and peace

Exploring the inner life and making it practical for daily living requires a method for cultivating inner stillness and peace. The School uses a method of mantra meditation for this purpose. The system of meditation is not religious, it is designed for the spirit of man and therefore it does not clash with anything. The Mantra based meditation comes from an ancient tradition. The meditation is introduced in a traditional way through a simple and dignified ceremony. The ceremony also includes the contribution by the receiver of a gift of money in relation to the means of the individual. All the financial gifts are used to help provide the resources to make meditation available as widely as possible.
The School was introduced to meditation when the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi came to Britain in 1960 to introduce transcendental meditation in the West. Through his grace, the School was introduced to the Śańkarācārya of the North Śrī Śāntānanda Sarasvatī (both the Maharishi and Śrī Śāntānanda Sarasvatī were fellow disciples of the previous Śańkarācārya, Śrī Gurudeva), and the School has subsequently continued to receive the meditation from Śrī Śāntānanda Sarasvatī.
